Tragedy struck a household in Habersham County on Tuesday afternoon, as emergency responders reported the loss of two beloved family pets in a devastating house fire located north of Clarkesville.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., emergency units rushed to 127 Lone Wolf Way, situated off Hollywood Highway, in response to the distress call. Despite the swift arrival of rescue services, the inhabitants had already evacuated the premises, yet sadly, not all of their cherished pets could be saved from the engulfing flames.
Firefighters courageously entered the inferno and managed to retrieve two of the family’s pets. Despite valiant attempts at resuscitation by first responders, both animals succumbed to the blaze.
With commendable efficiency, firefighters successfully contained the conflagration within a mere 30 minutes. However, the firefighting efforts necessitated the closure of the westbound lane of Hollywood Highway until approximately 4:40 p.m., owing to the utilization of a substantial supply hose connected to a nearby hydrant.
Expressing gratitude for the collaborative support received during the ordeal, HCES Battalion Chief Jason Garrett extended thanks to the Habersham County Road Department personnel for their prompt assistance in traffic control, providing essential cones to streamline operations.
In the wake of the tragic incident, the State Fire Marshalโs Office has initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking loss.
